TE Connectivity (TE), a global leader in connectivity and #sensors, has released its #EB16 expanded beam optical pin and socket termini in a new single-mode and multimode variations in which these variations are based on an updated design which includes springless mating and crimples cable retention.
TE Connectivity’s main portfolio for ruggedized fiber optics (RFO) products which allows us to deliver end-to-end solutions along with all the benefits of optical #technology for a challenging harsh environment usage. Fiber-optics enables data and video to be delivered at higher speeds over long distances that are not possible with the traditional copper cable. RFO's products we help us all to deliver approximately 10 Gb/s #communication protocols over fiber with inherent EMI immunity and significant size, weight, and power (SWaP) benefits.
• Gigabit Ethernet data transmission components
• HD and 3D video uncompressed transmission components and modules
• Serial and analog data transmission solutions
• The frame work-based systems for maximum flexibility and aggregation of all data protocols over fiber.
EB16 termini were built on TE PRO beam connecting technology, which expands and collimates the optical signal in beam size that is well beyond its original size to help provide much better #optical alignment, low sensitivity to contamination,, and constant performance over thermal changes. Separating these optical components by an air gap and removing physical contact helps to improve the performance and hence reduce the damage in rugged conditions such as high vibration as well as shock. The mated termini engagement length is two times deeper than the standard MIL-PRF-29504 /4 and 5, which further helps to improve stability and performance during vibration.
Like previous versions, new EB16 optical single-mode and multimode pin and socket termini are drop-in replacements for the MIL-PRF-29504 /4 and /5 physical contact termini used in many ruggedized circular connector systems. Designed for versatility, EB16 termini fit standard D38999 size 16 cavities and are compliant with MIL-DTL-38999 Series I and Series III connectors, as well as the MIL-STD-1760 connector.
These termini include features that compensate for inherent connector mating misalignments. For a D38999 size 24-36 connector which is fully loaded with termini, the springless termini can reduced withstand the total axial connector mating force by approximately 150 LBF. The Return Loss (RL) of the multimode products is now comparable to that of the single-mode design. In addition, crimp eyelets and the need for a crimp tool have been eliminated; therefore, reducing overall termination time and labor.
EB16 termini were designed for military, commercial aerospace, harsh environment industrial,, and space applications. That include:
Radar and Sensor Systems
Rugged Communications Networks
Fixed Wing and Rotary Aircraft
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
Commercial Avionics and Sensing
Military Avionics, Sensing and Ordnance
Military Ground Vehicles
TE Connectivity is around $13 billion global industrial techno- leader building a safer, sustainable, productive, and connected future. Their wide range of connectivity and sensor solutions, that has been proven in the most difficult environments, enabled them to advance in transportation, industrial applications, medical technology, #energy, data communications, and the home. With almost 70,000 - 80,000 employees, which also includes 8,000-9,000 engineers, working alongside customers in approximately 150 countries, TE ensures that EVERY CONNECTION COUNTS.
