Project Idea:
A hands-on project to learn embedded systems, IR communication, and motor control using an 8051 microcontroller. This robotic vehicle can be wirelessly controlled using a standard TV remote.
Project Description:
This project demonstrates how a robotic vehicle can be controlled with a TV remote using IR communication. An IR sensor receives commands from the remote, which are decoded by an 8051 microcontroller. The robot can move forward, backward, left, and right as per the remote signals. A motor driver IC drives the motors based on the microcontroller’s commands.
The system uses RC5 protocol for communication between the remote and the IR receiver. The project also introduces students to the basics of embedded C programming for decoding IR signals and controlling hardware.
The project can be further upgraded with DTMF technology, allowing control of the robot through mobile phones for longer-range communication.
