PCB Defect Detection using FPGA and Image Processing
This project comes in two variants -
- Software-based -> focuses on implementing an image processing system using Verilog on an FPGA for detecting image defects. The system processes input images stored in HEX format, converts them to grayscale, and identifies defective pixels using a tolerance-based approach. The output images, including grayscale, inverted, and marked defect images, are saved in BMP format.
- Hardware Implementation -> Here we modify the Model A with hardware integration where we connect the FPGA board with a Camera to take real time images of the PCB and a Display to see the output.

The Software used is Vivado 2018 or above and the programming is done in Verilog.
The Software Version will include only the Project Code Files for Vivado and nothing else.
Additional things to consider -
- PCBs - The customer should have their own good & bad PCBs or purchase the same from us. We will provide 1 Good PCB & min. of 4 Bad PCBs
- The setup should be made such that the camera should be placed on a fixed location and the PCBs are of same dimensions placed at a fixed place, to get the correct results. If you need guidance or support on this then let us know.
