The IoT-Based Object Avoidance Robot is an autonomous robotic vehicle that detects and avoids obstacles in its path using ultrasonic sensors. Powered by an ESP8266/ESP32, it sends real-time data to a cloud platform, allowing users to monitor or control the robot remotely. This smart robot is ideal for learning automation, robotics, and IoT, and is used in surveillance, transport, and exploration applications.

 

Components 

  • ESP8266/ESP32 – Wi-Fi microcontroller for processing and connectivity

  • Ultrasonic Sensors (HC-SR04) – Detect obstacles in front or around

  • L298N Motor Driver Module – Controls direction and speed of motors

  • DC Geared Motors (2 or 4) – Drive the robot’s wheels

  • Chassis with Wheels – Robot body and movement support

  • Power Supply (Battery Pack 7.4V or 12V) – Powers entire system

  • IoT Platform (Blynk, Firebase, ThingSpeak) – For remote control/monitoring

  • LED & Buzzer (optional) – Alert system for collision proximity

  • Jumper Wires & Mounting Hardware – For assembly and connection

 

How It Works

  • Ultrasonic sensors constantly check for obstacles.

  • If an obstacle is detected within a threshold distance, the ESP8266 instructs the robot to turn or stop.

  • The motor driver controls the motion accordingly.

  • Data is sent to a cloud dashboard for live status or remote commands.

  • User can optionally control it manually via mobile app or view obstacle log.
