Project Idea
This project provides an intelligent traffic signal management system using an 8051 microcontroller that dynamically adjusts signal timings based on real-time traffic density detected through IR sensors and photodiodes. It also includes an Android app with Bluetooth capability to override normal signal timings during emergencies like ambulance or fire brigade movement.
Project Description
The system measures traffic density as low, medium, or high using IR sensors placed in line-of-sight. Based on density, green signal durations are auto-adjusted to optimize flow and reduce congestion. During emergencies, the Android application can Bluetooth override the signal to give immediate green signals to the prioritized direction. The microcontroller controls the signaling hardware and timing logic, programmed mainly in C using the Keil µVision IDE. This solution reduces traffic jams, fuel wastage, and facilitates emergency vehicle movement efficiently.
