Project Idea:
The project enables remote control of AC power applied to a load using an Android device via Bluetooth. By controlling the firing angle of SCRs through 8051 microcontroller programming, the project demonstrates efficient AC power control for applications like speed control of induction motors, dimming of lights, and smart energy management.

 

Project Description:
This project uses an 8051 microcontroller to regulate AC power delivered to a connected load by adjusting the firing angle of thyristors (SCRs). Commands are sent from any Android device through a custom app or Bluetooth-based interface. The system detects the AC mains zero-crossing point using a comparator, and the microcontroller introduces the required delay to control power output via an opto-isolated SCR driver circuit. For demonstration, a lamp is used, where brightness variation simulates motor speed control.
The solution is user-friendly, low-cost, and highly reliable compared to other AC control methods, making it a practical choice for academic projects and practical applications.
