The Military Spy & Bomb Disposal Robot is an advanced embedded systems and robotics project designed as a prototype to demonstrate the concepts used in modern surveillance and bomb disposal robots. The robot can be remotely controlled over Wi-Fi through a web-based dashboard while simultaneously streaming live video from its onboard camera, allowing the operator to monitor and navigate hazardous environments from a safe distance.

The project combines an ESP32-CAM for live video streaming and web interface with an Arduino Nano dedicated to motor and robotic arm control. Communication between the two controllers is established using UART, creating a modular and industry-inspired embedded system architecture.

The robotic platform features a 4-wheel drive chassis, a multi-axis robotic arm with gripper, and a night vision camera, enabling remote inspection and object handling in locations that may be difficult or unsafe for humans to access.

Working Principle

The robot creates its own Wi-Fi network, allowing a laptop or smartphone to connect directly to it through a web browser. Once connected, the user can access a control dashboard that displays a live video feed from the onboard camera while also providing controls for vehicle movement and robotic arm operation.

The ESP32-CAM manages Wi-Fi communication, hosts the control dashboard, and streams live video. User commands received through the dashboard are transmitted to the Arduino Nano via UART. The Arduino processes these commands and controls the L298N motor driver for vehicle movement as well as the PCA9685 servo driver for precise robotic arm positioning.

This dual-controller architecture separates video processing from motor control, resulting in smooth operation and improved system reliability.
