The IoT-based Smart Street Lighting System is designed to automatically control streetlights based on motion and ambient light. Using sensors and a Wi-Fi-enabled microcontroller, it reduces energy consumption by dimming or turning off lights when no motion is detected and turning them on when needed. It also allows remote monitoring and fault detection through cloud platforms.
Components:
NodeMCU (ESP8266) – The brain of the system with Wi-Fi
PIR Sensor – Detects motion (people or vehicles)
LDR Sensor – Checks if it’s day or night
Relay Module – Turns the streetlight ON or OFF
LED Streetlight (12V) – The actual light used
Power Supply (12V) – Gives power to everything
Breadboard & Jumper Wires – For connecting all parts
IoT App (like Blynk) – To monitor and control lights remotely
How It Works:
LDR Sensor checks if it's day or night.
During the night, PIR Sensor detects motion:
If motion is detected → LED turns ON.
No motion for some time → LED turns OFF or dims.
Data is sent to the cloud platform for monitoring.
Lights can also be controlled manually via mobile app if needed.
