Schottky diodes have a low forward voltage drop and fast switching speeds compared with a rectifier diode. This makes the diode to be popularly used in reverse polarity protection circuit and other time constraint switching circuits. The downside of the diode is that it has a low reverse breakdown voltage. The features of the 1N5822 diode are
- Forward Voltage drop: 0.39 @ 1A
- Reverse Voltage: 28V (RMS)
- Forward Current: 3A
- Forward surge current: 80A
- Guardring for overvoltage protection
- Very small conduction losses
- Extremely fast switching
- Low forward voltage drop
- High forward surge capability
- High frequency operation
- Solder dip 275 °C max. 10 s, per JESD 22-B106
- Dimensions = Body Length: ~4.1 mm Body Diameter: ~2.0 mm
Typical 1N5822 Diode Applications:
- Used in low voltage high frequency inverters
- DC-DC converters
- Polarity protection applications
